The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation raised $38,000 through the Birdies for Charity® program of the Valero Texas Open, ranking 16th overall.
The Foundation owes a huge thank-you to board member Jim Watts for his leadership in getting the organization to the big total.
That high ranking entitled the Foundation to have a team play for it in today’s pro-am portion of the PGA Tour event, which is taking place at TPC San Antonio.
Depending on how the team does, additional money could be raised for GenCure and Foundation programs. The team includes pro Justin Leonard and representatives of USAA’s real estate division.
The Birdies for Charity program has raised more than $2.6 million for local charities so far.
The Valero Texas Open continues through Sunday.
